* Tim Bowler - a free event for schools *
Thursday 2 October, 2.30 pm Walthamstow Hall School

Best-selling author of teenage novels, Tim Bowler, will be talking about 'Dangerous Worlds', the setting for his powerful novels for young people.  This will be a free event, but tickets will be limited to 250.  Most tickets will be allocated to local schools but if any young person feels he or she might be missing out, some tickets will be available at the Sevenoaks Bookshop.

* Tea for Local book groups with guest speaker
Nicola Beauman from Persephone Books *
Saturday 4 October, 2.30 pm, at Bradbourne School

The Books Groups Tea is a first for the Sevenoaks Literary Celebration.  We hope that members of local book groups will accept the invitation to meet and discuss their book choices over tea and cakes.  All participants will be asked to bring a list of the books they have most enjoyed discussing.  There will be a talk by Nicola Beauman, founder and managing director of Persephone Books, the tiny publishing house which has made a huge success of selling out-of-print novels by women writers.

 * Weald Literary Walk, with readings and tea *
Sunday 5 October, 2.30 pm, meet at Weald Memorial Hall
(SOLD OUT)

The Weald Literary Walk is being held for the fifth year in succession and is always a sell-out, so book early.  Local Weald resident and poet, Gilly Moysey, will lead the traditional afternoon ramble through the pretty village of Weald and its environs.  Weald has been home to a surprising number of writers including Edward & Helen Thomas, W.H. Davies, Arthur Koestler and Vita Sackville-West.  It is hoped that the walk will feature a visit to the beautiful garden of Long Barn, Vita's home with her husband, diplomat and writer Harold Nicolson, for many years.   The walk will be followed by readings and a delicious home-baked afternoon tea.
